  1. Hi, thanks for the informative tutorials.

But, i strongly feel that they have to cover many more aspects in the area of editing and transformin.

I have a doubt, how to rotate an image or text in captivate just as in powerpoint or photoshop, to the required angle?

I also want to disable bg color for the drawings i make, i mean background color should be transparent, how is it possible?

can you please update me about these issues!

    Hi Vashishta,

You can’t rotate objects at all in Captivate unfortunately.

As for the background color of the drawings you can right-click on your object and select properties. In there you can set the “Fill Transparency” to 100% and then the background color will be invisible.

  3. Hi Michael,

    Thank you for the feedback.
    It helped me a lot.

Okay I have another doubt, is it possible to import directly text from powerpoint or photoshop or flash, as text itself rather as an image, and if possible how is it?

or can we import the images and can scale it without loosing the quality.

Please update about some alternative method of placing vertically rotated images / text.

    Thankyou.

    Hi Vashishta,

The only way I can think of when it comes to placing text that is vertically rotated is by the use of images. I would create the text as a bitmap or png image in Photoshop (or equivalent) and import it into Captivate.

You can easily import text from Powerpoint, but you will not be able to rotate it.

  6. If I can follow-up on this issue with a related question . . .
I’m importing Powerpoint 07 presentations into Captivate4. In the original Powerpoint slides, there are multiple pictures (in .PNG format) that have transparent backgrounds. The backgrounds are transparent in the original .PNG file, the image backgrounds are transparent in the Powerpoint slides . . . but when the slides are played in Captivate the backgrounds are white/grey/cloudy.

I’m completely at a loss at this point. I can’t find anything about this in the help PDF file, and I haven’t seen this addressed on the forums for Captivate 4. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

  7. Hi Busboy,

To me that sounds like a bug in Captivate to be honest. I never really used the “Import PPT” feature much because I prefer to create everything in Captivate myself.

The only workaround I can think of is to remove the .PNG files from your PPT. Import the PPT into Captivate and then manually add the .PNG files to your Captivate project afterwards.

  8. Hi,

I developed a simulation in Captivate 4 and published it as an swf file. I inserted the swf animation into my Captivate 4 storyboard.

Is there anyway I could control the storyboard slide timeline to ensure the animation is played completly. At the same time if there is some interactivity in the animation/demonstration file, like clicking, entering text etc., the storyboard timeline syncs with the animation timeline and waits till the user clicks.

Can some suggest if we can do anything about it.

    THanks,
    Nive

  9. Hi,
Thanks for the links. I’m trying to record narration for a presentation of PP slides. I can record audio for a slide (have calibrated the mic and mute is off) and I can see the the sound wave in the Edit Audio box but I cannot hear any playback. I would greatly appreciate any advice.
    thank you!

  10. Hi Sally,

The only thing I can think of is that you need to update Captivate if you are using CP4.

Can you hear sound playback in other applications?

  11. Hi,

I am an instructional design specialist at Austin Community College. I would like to have copies of the tutorials to put on our website for faculty to view. When you upgrade to a newer version, Captivate 4 tutorials usually are no longer available. Is it possible to get a copy?

    Thanks

  12. Hi Peg,

The tutorials from this post are from Adobe and hosted on the Adobe website. I only have links to them.

It says that they are copyrighted, but I can’t think that they would have problems with you putting them on your faculty website as long as you make it clear that these are done by Adobe.

If you want to be 100% certain then you should send Adobe support an email and ask them about this. They would be able to give you a clear answer.

  13. We just got Captive 4.0 and would like to set-up a template that identifies the attributes (e.g. font size, background color and placement) of the instruction/feedback windows that appear on the simulations. Where can I find info on how to do that?

  14. Hi Becky,

Are you looking for how to change the standard values for font and text captions in general?

The background color can be set in Preferences – Global – Defaults.

The caption type, font and font size for recordings can be set in Preferences – Recording – Defaults.
